I’ve known Shawn and Ivan for 20 plus years, in fact true story, one day sitting in Shawn’s office we were talking about his tennis game which some of you may not know, he’s amazing. As this story goes, he ended up in some doubles game with a young kid from Alberta. I don't remember how the ending went, but it turned out to be my all-star nephew, that went on to university on a full ride scholarship. Today, he's is a brain surgeon in Southern California.
Today’s news, demands a SSR, a Special Situations Report. For months now, I’ve been bridging this together keeping it on the front burner within my reading and flowing group. After many many months, the project they have been working on has finally hit the desktop, and what a deal, amazing, monster, incredible does not begin to describe this! How about this, only because its baseball playoffs, they hit it out of the park, over the green monster. How can I say that, I cannot, but three geologists I chatted with this afternoon described it in those very words. One heavy hitter in Vancouver who knows of these two, said only Shawn and Ivan could pull this into one out of their shells. So a massively huge congrats to both and the team, this big of a project takes an amazing amount of time, beyond most of our understanding.
The Santa Cecilia Gold-copper Project in Maricunga Chile hosts some of the largest mines in the world including world-class multi-million-ounce deposits such as Salares Norte, La Coipa, Cerro Maricunga, Marte, Lobo, La Pepa, El Volcan, Caspiche and Cerro Casale. So beyond, the right postal code, think about this, just for moment, (your moment is up) its right next door to NEWMONT & BARRICK’S Caspiche and Cerro gold-copper deposit/mine. Newmont just happens to be their second largest shareholder in Peru with Tier One and Sombrero and Fury in Canada!
This has the potential to host up to 90,000,000 ounces of gold endowment (YIKES) and look what’s next door. The Santa Cecilia project is located immediately adjacent to the Norte Abierto project, held by Newmont and Barrick, which is comprised of the Caspiche and Cerro Casale gold-copper porphyry deposits. Collectively, these deposits contain proven and probable reserves of 23.2 million (M) ounces of gold and 5.8 billion (B) pounds of copper and measured and indicated resources of 26.6 M ounces of gold and 6.7 B pounds of copper.
When a press release is 5 pages in depth, and they put it right at the market close and almost no volume today you know that it was a very well-kept secret, and its put out to give the EU, USA Canada and global market to get their head around this over night and early morning. I won’t bet, but I may suggest tomorrow’s action will be swift, furious and make the run for the bleachers.
